The Burrillville School Department issues HP Chromebooks and chargers to our Grade 6 to Grade 12 students. These students take the devices home and bring them to school (charged) every day.
For students in Grades K-5, we have classroom sets of Chromebooks that are available to send home at the teacher's discretion.
Please see the following links for information on our 1:1 Chromebook initiative at the Burrillville School Department:
Chromebook insurance is available until October 9th, 2024, for purchase through the Worth Ave Group, and is optional for students in grades 6-12 (since devices will stay in school for elementary students, there's no longer a need for it). Please see the following links for information on Chromebook insurance:
In order to enroll the device into the insurance plan, you will need your student's ID number.
We believe that insuring the Chromebook for the time your student is at the Burrillville Middle and High School is a great idea! The partnership with the Rhode Island Trust and the Worth Ave Group provides an unlimited number of zero-deductible claims for standard perils (fire, flood, vandalism), accidental damages (drops, spills, cracked screens), and theft (with police report).
You can insure the Chromebook now by visiting https://gpo.worthavegroup.com/gpo/burrillvillehs.
If you elect not to insure the Chromebook through the program, you will be responsible for reporting any damage to your BHS/BMS student's school administration. Your BHS/BMS student will be issued a loaner while the Chromebook is repaired by our Technology Department, and you will be billed for the repairs.
For comparison, here's a list of common repair costs if done by our Technology Department:
Screen replacement - $40
Keyboard replacement - $40
Trackpad replacement - $30
Total loss damage or lost device - $200
As you can see, insurance through Worth Ave Group is a cost-effective way to avoid costly repairs.
We’ve put together a list of Chromebook Usage Expectations that cover the basics on how to care for and protect the Chromebook. Please take a moment to review them with your student.
