Starting next week, Rhode Island Public Radio will air a series focused exclusively on Burrillville. Our reporters fanned out across the community to find the unique sights and sounds of Burrillville, from a world-famous shooting range, to a hotel that once hosted Abraham Lincoln and much, much more. We’ll be reporting on the growing controversy over natural gas projects and efforts to combat opioid abuse among teenagers. We’ll also stop by a hockey practice and eat a family-style chicken dinner at Wright’s Farm.
The series is part of our commitment to in-depth, local reporting, and it is this year’s “One Square Mile,” an annual feature focusing deeply on a single Rhode Island community. We hope you will tune in to hear the stories!
One Square Mile: Burrillville airs October 26th – October 31st during Rhode Island Public Radio’s Morning Edition (5:00 AM to 9:00 AM) and All Things Considered (4:00 PM to 6:30 PM). You can tune in at 88.1 FM in northern Rhode Island, 102.7 FM for South County and the islands, and 91.5 FM in Coventry and the central part of the state. Listeners can also stream the stories online at ripr.org and on our iPhone app. If you miss any part of the series, we’ll post all of the stories at our website ripr.org. Be sure to check it out!
RIPR and the Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library will host a listening session and discussion of the series on November 3rd at 6 PM. We hope you will stop by the library for light refreshments and lively conversation with reporters from our newsroom. You’ll get to hear the story behind the reporting, tell us what you thought, and what stories you’d like us to cover next!
